The Sapa Valley, I head deep into the mountainous terrain of Northwestern Vietnam via 8 hour train and 2 hour jeep ride.
Sapa was surreal, inhabited by many hillside tribes, visited by droves of tourists, and for good reason. I spend about 4 days here, each day visiting a different ethnic minority village from the roads (sometimes dirt) branching off from this mountaintop resort town. The mountains are mainly unpopulated except for Sapa itself, the majority of the ethnic minority population lives in the valley below us, with their terraced farms running up the mountainside.
